Description

Welcome to Hanover House….

Psychiatrist Evelyn Talbot has dedicated her life to solving the mysteries of the antisocial mind. Why do psychopaths act as they do? How do they come to be? Why don’t they feel any remorse for the suffering they cause? And are there better ways of spotting and stopping them?

After having been kidnapped, tortured and left for dead when she was just a teenager—by her high school boyfriend—she’s determined to understand how someone she trusted so much could turn on her. So she’s established a revolutionary new medical health center in the remote town of Hilltop, Alaska, where she studies the worst of the worst.

But not everyone in Hilltop is excited to have Hanover House and its many serial killers in the area. Alaskan State Trooper, Sergeant Amarok, is one of them. And yet he can’t help feeling bad about what Evelyn has been through. He’s even attracted to her. Which is partly why he worries.

He knows what could happen if only one little thing goes wrong...

This is the a prequel and does not truly end. This story allows us to get to know Miranda. She is set on learning why serial killers do what they do. She has survived a terrible event but has not forgotten it. She does not let men get near to her in a personal way until she visits Alaska where the new facility she has asked for is being built. Here, she meet Sergeant Amarok, and heat begins to rise. Her past catches up to her, but Miranda is not detered. I look forward to reading the next book. I recommend this book. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This prequel to Her Darkest Nightmare is a novella that I recommend you read in one day. It is psychologically as well as literally frightening. I started reading it but had to switch to other books and go back to it. I ended up starting over and read the whole thing in one day. Evelyn's career as a psychiatrist was as a result of having been kidnapped by her high school boyfriend, Jasper, and was brutally abused and left for dead before her escape. He is still missing after 20 years. Evelyn became fascinated by the minds of serial killers and initiates a program in Hilltop, Alaska, population 500, where a facility is being built for the study of psychopathic murderers. Well researched, this prequel grabs you on page one and doesn't let go until the end. I can't wait until Her Darkest Nightmare is published in September 2016.

Thrilling start to a new series! I cannot wait to continue this series, this is just an extremely enticing view into a new world being created by Brenda Novak. This is part thriller, part horror and a little romance thrown in to really snag the reader. The horrific events that are depicted in the story seem to be dragged almost right out of the headlines. I love that authenticity of the story, the characters and the locals. This is one of the most gripping novels I've read in a really REALLY long time and can't wait for more!

Intense!!! The tension was thick and well-sustained. Better breathe deep and fill your lungs now because this stunning emotionally packed read will leave you breathless!! You will meet the perfect serial killer who expresses such raw intensity that you will feel his rage plus his devious mind seeping through the pages. Up against this monster is a forensic psychiatrist, Dr. Evelyn Talbot. Evelyn is the only victim of this killer who managed to escape after being kidnapped, tortured and left to die. Then the serial killer disappeared but Evelyn knows he is still out there. She has used her horrific experiences as a professional psychiatric tool to study mad men. Hanover House is being built in Alaska as a research facility to study psychopaths to see how they think. Now she will bring harden criminals into this isolated area with only a single Alaskan State Trooper, Sergeant Amarok. The author weaves together intrigue, chills and thrills from the past into the present. A great read!! Thank you to the author for this eBook. My opinion is my own.

This story was a gripping page turner with plenty of twists and turns, that I could not put down from the beginning. Evelyn, a psychiatrist for criminally insane, lives her life in constant fear. She went through a brutally torture in her teenage years and the person is still on the loose. She has never trusted another man, until now. But is it to late, to let her guard down. Has he finally found her again to finish his job. I can not wait to read the rest of this series.
