Description

The #1 New York Times Bestseller and inspirational memoir by Michelle Knight, whose survival story gripped the world and continues to inspire and offer hope.

Michelle was a young single mother when she was kidnapped by a local school bus driver named Ariel Castro. For more than a decade afterward, she endured unimaginable torture at the hand of her abductor. In 2003 Amanda Berry joined her in captivity, followed by Gina DeJesus in 2004. Their escape on May 6, 2013, made headlines around the world.

Barely out of her own tumultuous childhood, Michelle was estranged from her family and fighting for custody of her young son when she disappeared. Local police believed she had run away, so they removed her from the missing persons lists fifteen months after she vanished. Castro tormented her with these facts, reminding her that no one was looking for her, that the outside world had forgotten her. But Michelle would not be broken.

In Finding Me, Michelle will reveal the heartbreaking details of her story, including the thoughts and prayers that helped her find courage to endure her unimaginable circumstances and now build a life worth living. By sharing both her past and her efforts to create a future, Michelle becomes a voice for the voiceless and a powerful symbol of hope for the thousands of children and young adults who go missing every year.

This book was truly an amazing book. It was sad and will make you emotional. She is an absolutely strong and brave woman. I wouldn’t have been able to survive half of what she went through but she did and I’m truly proud of who she is today. 10/10 definitely would recommend

My coworker recommended this book to me as I am a traveling healthcare worker on assignment in Cleveland Ohio. When I was told about this story I knew I had to get my hands on this book. I caught myself thinking I was reading a fictional thriller at times. I’m just speechless literally that this happened to these girls. It’s absolutely horrifying what they went through. They are some strong women! This book has actually really scared me, but I’m glad that it sheds light on situations like this. Like wake up people and be more aware because you never know what could be happening next door, and you never know who you can trust.

Wow! Absolutely heartbreaking what Michelle had to go through, but her love for life is so inspiring. She deserves so much love and kindness.

Throughout this book, my heart and my soul felt every word written to the core usually leaving me emotionally drained each time I picked up the book to read. Sometimes I’d have to take breaks because I could not mentally deal with the abuse endured by Ms. Knight. I kept asking myself, why was her life so sad from the very beginning? Why was she put through so much pain? But I see her perspective and commend her for being so strong and articulating her strength so beautifully and encouraging others to take control of their life even after something so horrible. Such an inspiring read and definitely recommend.

Tears filled my eyes throughout the entire book. I would love to know what happened to the young man who found you underneath the bridge and took you in? If you where ever reunited? Bless you and may you continue to find the small beauty this world has to offer.

I read this book based off recommendations. thinking that the content would make me feel like I was ready to sink to the bottom of my seat, I treaded carefully through the first few chapters. I quickly became so emotionally invested into this story that I found myself pulling out my phone to read chapters at work, at the grocery stores, sitting in parking lots on my phone. Michelles account was powerful, emotional and hard to put down. You get a true sense for her personality and courage. Definitely a must read,m.
