This book was just so blaaah. I kept reading hoping things would pick up and become more interesting but I was sadly disappointed. The plot was predictable and by the end I just wanted it to be over.
  • Mediocre, at best.

This reads like a cliched movie that you watch in the theaters because it was so hyped but when it’s over you realize there’s no substance to it. The book starts off interesting at the beginning, then gets really long and drawn out but you stick with it wanting to find out the ending only to be disappointed by a lot of unanswered questions. The ending is rushed and the author uses a cheap trick to skip over a lot of key storyline by fast forwarding into the future. The characters are not developed enough and as a reader I lost sympathy for the Ella when she continued to remain in her situation despite putting an innocent baby in harms way. The resolution to this story is unrealistic. The main character spends her entire life suffering abuse, but the ending makes it seem like her recovery is instant as opposed to the long process of mental health growth it should be. Overall, bad writing.

Honestly would never have guessed the twist in this book. I kept thinking I knew what was happening and got a little nervous that this book was going to let me down and then the twist came and my jaw dropped to the floor! I couldn’t put this down because I was waiting for something big, and it delivered!
