Description

On the surface, the galaxy seems peaceful. Humankind prospers from the Capital World to the far reaches of The Corridor. But to those who can see the signs, it's clear something is wrong. Long, dark fingers are pulling strings inside the military, making clandestine deals with enemy states, and fulfilling some dark design.

Calvin is an intelligence agent working for the Imperial government. He's young, his methods are unorthodox, but he gets results. So when a former military hero steals a warship and goes rogue--threatening to start a war, Calvin is sent to eliminate him.

But as he chases his prey across the stars, he realizes they are both pawns in a shadowy chess game that shakes kingdoms, divides empires, and threatens civilization everywhere. And if he is to uncover the mystery and expose the conspiracy he must confront--and embrace--the darkest elements of the galaxy and throw himself, his career, and everyone he loves into the line of fire.

  • Good Military Mystery

It is so nice to have a story told without the use of profanity sprinkled through every paragraph, like so much obscene confetti. And it is even more refreshing to find it in a military based story, where other authors seem to think profane language comes issued with the uniform. I was hooked from the first page of this one. The author weaves an intricate story of betrayal, deceit, and uncommon bravery. The characters are relatable in the eccentricities and flaws, but you root for them anyway because they are just like us. I have no idea where this ride will go, but I am looking forward to seeing where it takes me.
  • ā€œHe hated arrogant women, especially the attractive kind...had everything handed to themā€

Couldnā€™t get past this part. Literally stopped listening/reading. Dude had no business speaking to this woman and she told him she didnā€™t feel like speaking about a situation off the record and before a trial- and this is his reaction. All he could focus on was her physical beauty. This book sounded interesting but I have no desire to read yet another book from the point of view of a man who thinks heā€™s brighter and better than any living thing known as ā€œwomanā€. Just no.

From the captivating opening through the last actions, you'll not regret having taken a chance on what seems the beginning of a most epic space adventure.
