  • Observational drawing

This book is a good example of quick sketches of life happening around the artist. Very gestural, not intended to be finished drawings-just what the artist is observing at that very moment.

I love this idea. It is a series of sketches of New Yorkers and it has the feel of people in the big city. Some sketches are incomplete, missing eyes, or either features adding to the feeling of the indidvidual getting lost in the ciy of 9 million people. It has inspired me to want to create a similar project in my hometown of Dundalk, Maryland. I think if I pick subjects at random, I can relay the blue-collar struggle of a drug infested working class town, with a bad reputation, but a good heart. This is my favorite sort of sketch diary that I’ve ever seen. Enjoy it.

As a native New Yorker, I'm impressed by how well these sketches evoke the feel of the city, and accurately portray the eclectic styles and moods of the populace.

I love the subtle solitude in these drawings... It seems that the drawings genuinely portrait the artist's state of mind. I highly recommend this book.

I love this book because it basically transfers the feeling of artists on the drawing book into the digital canvas. Also, it's awesome to see people in New York through the artist's view. No words describe but all figures every page contains their own story. Thanks!
