Description

New York Times bestselling sensation Susan Mallery returns to Fool's Gold, California, where it's true that sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs…

Former pro-football kicker Sam Ridge has notoriously bad luck with women—from cheaters to fame chasers. Still, the gorgeous brunette at the bar in Fool's Gold looks harmless—until she takes him home and he discovers a room devoted to securing a man, for life.

Dellina Hopkins never guessed that storing gowns from a friend's bridal boutique would chase away her first and only fling. After her parents died, she skipped her "wild youth" to raise her sisters. She doesn't want forever from Sam, but one night—all night—would've been nice.

His clean getaway gets messy when his firm hires Dellina to plan an event. As long hours lead to late nights, the two succumb to temptation again. Has Sam's luck finally changed? Or this time, will Dellina be the one to run?

Sam is a great central figure in this book, but as you get farther into the book, he's even better as you read about his (very funny) parents! And Dellina is delightful.... Just sit down and enjoy this great read!

Sam Ridge is a sexy former pro-football player who now runs the finance department of SCORE. SCORE is a company he owns with 3 other friends. Sam has a horrible track record with women. Dellina Hopkins runs a party planning business. When Sam hires Dellina to plan a party for SCORE, the ONE night they spent together 5 months ago, makes things awkward. He ran away that night, without letting her explain why she had a room full of wedding dresses. He thought she was trying to snag a husband. After he apologizes for running and she explains why she had the dresses, they find it hard to stay away from each other. They are perfect for each other but neither of them want a serious relationship. He's been burned, bad, and has EXTREME trust issues. She had to raise her twin sisters after her parents passed away and now that they're grown and have lives of their own, she's ready for a life lived the way she wants with no extra commitments. That's where the "friends with benefits" comes in for them. Will feelings get in the way or are they both OK with no responsibilities toward each other? Fantastic book!!! What I have written about is the main story line and characters but life in Fool's Gold goes on. There are many sub stories happening throughout the book. My favorite being Sam's mother, Lark. She is just wonderful! Some are funny, some touching, and others are extremely sad. That's life in this magical, fun, mysterious little town with a mayor that no one can quite figure out. It's like coming home. I love it and I miss it more at the end of every book! Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!! I was lucky enough to get my greedy little hands on an early copy and wow! Susan continues to exceed expectations with every new Fool's Gold book. Many series start to fall flat after a certain point, but not this one! It just gets better and better and BETTER with each new story. There's always laugh out loud moments, plenty of romance and female friendships in one of Susan's books, and this one is no different. There are some truly hilarious moments--I'm talking tears down the face and laughing til your stomach aches--and several times in this story, I just wanted to reach into the pages and hug these characters. It's also a bit steamier than some of the others in this series and it really works in this story. Whew!!! And Ms, Mallery? I'm gonna need a diagram. Just sayin'... ;) You'll have to read the book to understand what I'm saying and you'll be wanting one too. I think we should all start a petition to build our own Fool's Gold! Although, with everyone wanting to move there, it wouldn't stay a small town for long. Oh and there's some added mystery with Mayor Marsha. Hmmmm.... that woman is just larger than life. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. The secondary story lines are fun and keep us in touch with characters from previous books after they've gotten their HEA. But this one... oh! I loved it so much!! I don't want to give away any of the secrets and surprises in Before We Kiss, so I'll just end with this: Pre-order now, because you will NOT want to miss this newest installmant in the Fool's Gold series! With my TBR pile threatening to reach the moon, I read this book straight through the first time--cereal is ok for dinner sometimes, right?!-- and immediately had to read it again. It's going to feel like FOREVER until July gets here to read Until We Touch!! Keep up the great work, Ms. Mallery!!
