Description

There was no warning. No way to prepare. One might think that the end of the world would come slowly, or loudly, or perhaps so quickly that the end would be a vast dark nothing. One might think there would be news traveling of impending doom. Some hint of how the human race would die. One would think...

The fine blue mist was impossible to see falling from the night sky. It coated everything in its path: houses, cars, toys left in yards by children, the ground. By sunrise, it would be impossible to detect. The veil of toxic substance was thin, but it was enough to do the harm for which it was intended. Anyone unlucky enough to be outside at the time of contamination would die. The airplanes that flew that night would be some of the last.

The darkness of night would give way to morning light, as it always had. People would awake in search of a lazy weekend breakfast. Mothers would begin preparing children for a day of play. Dogs would whine to go outside. The dead would rise.

Zoe's been on her own since she was a teenager, when tragedy took her family. Living in a remote small town, she withdrew from society. Her longtime friend, Adam Boggs, left her even more broken when he left for college and stopped answering her calls and letters. When he's back in town for a visit, they attempt to reconcile. The next morning brings an end to life as they knew it.

Fleeing for safety, they soon cross paths with other survivors. It doesn't take long until they realize that the dead are not the only things to fear.

Book one of the Grace Series. Intended for mature audiences. Series should be read in order. A portion of all proceeds of this series will be donated to Strong Against Cancer - helping find a cure for childhood cancer.

Males are "men" and females are "girls"? Tried to get past it, but it kept pissing me off! Writing is kind of, no pretty elementary, but I like the story so I'll finish.....
  • it’s interesting, not great leads

I enjoyed the new take, the people they meet etc… but the lead characters just don’t gel for me. The female lead…. it seems like she is crying and not dealing most of the book, her man….. seems self serving in his love for her and I just don’t feel their relationship as mates not the friendship. It just doesn’t quite work for me. I’m glad I read it but I’m not interested in reading the rest of the series.

If you are a fan of the Zombie apocalypse, you will love this book! Gruesome scenes are explained in a way that is sure to please the horror lover, as well as innocent, yet steamy, first time sex scenes to get you toes curling! I enjoyed this read immensely!
