Description

New York Times bestselling author Lorelei James kicks-off her Want You Series with a Lund family cousin hot enough to melt the ice and mend a broken heart.

Former NHL star Jaxson Lund has returned to the Twin Cities, but he's at loose ends, unsure if he belongs at Lund Industries, or where he stands with Lucy, his ex-girlfriend and mother of his daughter, Mimi. Despite the signs she'd like to leave him in the penalty box, the attraction burning between them reinforces his determination to prove that he deserves a second chance...

Lucy Quade is in a good place with a steady job, a nice apartment, and a well-adjusted daughter, which is why she's hesitant when Jax insists on co-parenting. It's not that Lucy doesn't trust Jax...she's just unconvinced he can handle multiple responsibilities when he's been singularly focused on playing hockey. But when issues arise with Mimi, Lucy's shocked at how levelheaded and paternal he acts, giving her a glimpse of the Jax she used to know, the sexy, sweet man she fell for years ago.

Once Lucy lets her guard down, Jax goes all in to show her how good they are together, but will their past remain too large an obstacle to ever overcome?

I love this story. Love love love love love. Cheating is a hard-no for me, and while cheating is part of Jax and Lucy's back story and part of why they split up, there is no actual cheating in the book. It's all references to the past. I enjoyed the flashbacks to how they met, their dates, etc. They weren't the usual flashbacks, but written as memories. There are realistic moments that come with real life, including consequences, co-parenting, and just life in general. There were a few moments that I fell in love with Jax when he was realizing how parenting is, and that it's ok to feel or do those things. This book can be read as it is since it's a new series, but knowing the stories for some of his cousins made it even better for me, and I look forward to more stories of members of the Lund family- no matter what the series is.

Jaxson Lund and Lucy Quade have a history and a child. Ms James was able to keep the story running at a great clip and not lose any momentum. I was already in love with the Lund family before and now even more so. Lucy doesn't trust Jax except for when he has their daughter, then it is pretty much all in. Jax is trying to re-enter normal life after a career as an elite athlete - hockey player. Of course, he is running into lots of road blocks. After retiring he started acquiring properties and secrets. Lucy is trying to move on with her life but keeps reliving the past and remembering the love they shared. Over all it was a well written second chance at the happily ever after that both were looking for.

As usual I always enjoy Lorelei James books..... I had my apprehension regarding Jaxon’s story nor did I think he was worthy of being redeemable. But if anyone could do so Lorelei could. But what really made the book for me and being open to Jaxon being redeemable is his daughter Mimi. Loved their interaction, his devoted love and determination to be apart of her life, every aspect of it. And yes his love and regret of what his lost with Mimi’s mom was nice, I just think that with her strong personality she gave in a little to easy.... but that’s just my opinion. A few of the difficult situation was handled realistically, especially the beast child..... been there, don that!! I will admit.... I enjoyed the male cousins interaction too but I sure missed Selka’s one-liners 😉thought I see at least one...😆

This book will take your breath away. From the ups and downs of Jaxson’s relationship with Lucy. To his coparenting of Mimi and all her little manipulating ways. Jax is finally trying to be the man that we all knew he could be once he laid off the booze and women. Take a trip down memory lane with Jax and the family and get sucked in the same way I did. You aren’t going to want to miss this part of the Lund family legacy.

I am SO pumped to be reading about more Lund’s!!!! This is a continuation of the earlier series and hopefully the beginning of another wonderful set of storylines. We met Jaxon Lund in the earlier books and knew a little about his early years. We knew his life with Lucy was less than perfect but we knew he would get a HEA because he was a Lund…and Lorelei is just sweet like that! You don’t have to have read the other books as this is a complete stand alone but just like other LJ series, its always better to have the entire stories about all of the awesome families.

Second chance story that stole my heart! I will always have a soft spot in my heart for reformed bad boys and second chances. I don’t believe anyone does them better than Lorelei James. Having read the three previous Need You books I was itching for Jaxson and Lucy’s story and this did not disappoint. I love when we get to see characters grow and mature so they are finally ready for their happily ever after. Jaxson has recently retired from the NHL, done some growing up and realized where he made mistakes. Now he’s ready to own up to those mistakes and get back his family. I really loved everything about this book! If you like strong female characters and reformed bad boys this book is perfect for you!!

Omg, I don’t even know where to start with this review. Well first off I freaking loved this book. It’s so real. I truly cried and laughed with these characters. I just finished this book and I already want to read it again. This book might be a spin-off series but trust me it completely stands on its own. I honestly love every book Mrs. James has ever written but I am not lying when I say this is my new favorite book and couple from her. I will be a Jackson fan forever.

I don’t give 5 stars often but when I do, it’s because the book and author deserve it. I would give this one more than 5 stars, if I could. This story about Jax and Lucy was worth the wait. (I hate waiting for a new book from Ms James, I understand it and was worth it). The fact that Jax was a hockey player was icing on the cake for me, love hockey much more than football or baseball. Both Jax and Lucy were quick witted, the dialogue easy to read. When I met both Lucy and Jax from previous books, I wasn’t sure how I would like them. Jax came across as a spoiled, cocky athlete and Lucy came across as not very nice. Wasn’t sure how I would like a whole book dedicated to their story. Boy, was I wrong. I should have had more confidence in Lorelei’s writing because this is probably my favorite of all of her books and that says a lot. I love all of her books, which I can’t say for any other author that I read. All I can say is “Run, don’t walk” to read this book. You don’t have to read the previous books about the other Lund family members, but it helps to get to know the family’s history.
