Description

“One of my favorite authors.”—Colleen Hoover

An insightful, delightful, instant #1 New York Times bestseller from the author of Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation.

Named a Most Anticipated Book of 2022 by Oprah Daily ∙ Today ∙ ParadeMarie Claire ∙ Bustle ∙ PopSugar ∙ Katie Couric Media ∙ Book Bub ∙ SheReads ∙ Medium ∙ The Washington Post ∙ and more!

One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn't see coming...

Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.

Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away—with visions of a small town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute.

If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author. I like her writing style but someone needs to tell her to fix the editing of this book. The texts messages are not differentiated from the talking dialogue so I am not sure who says what and is it text or person to person. This is really annoying! The story was a bit long and Nora and Libby are such a basket case (more neurotic) 10 years after the Mom passes. I think I like Charlie the best, at least his personal baggage didn’t paralyze him like Nora. I will try another book from this author but if the texting dialogue isn’t better defined from personal conversations then I will not be buying anything else from her.

Read Book Lovers after completing Happy Place and People We Meet On Vacation - needless to say, I have fallen in love with Emily Henry! Each book is just as good as the last, this one included. Such a beautiful story of selfless sisters who overcome tragedy and both get their happy ending! Easy read, little spice, and a whole lotta love. I would recommend anything Emily Henry!

Liked it. Really enjoyed reading a romance novel from the perspective of the girl who gets dumped. It ended too abrupt. Did a good job with character development but I could’ve used a few trips to New York or maybe even the PowerPoint scene lol

I love Emily. I think her writing is very easy to read. I loved every character in this book. They were thoughtfully written. At times I thought the book was too easy going. Not boring… just too relaxed. I’d recommend to a friend. Happy Place is still my favorite of the two I’ve read so far.
