Ruth emigrated to Israel with her mother-in-law Naomi. She was kind to Naomi, providing her with food by gleaning in the barley field of Boaz. She won the admiration of Boaz. Thanks to the law of levirate marriage, Boaz and Ruth eventually married. Among their descendants was King David.
