Description

The Arctic Phonics Reader presents 6 sounds from Phonics Five. The Our World Sounds Reader presents the other 6 sounds from Phonics Five. The featured sounds are colour coded and one or two appear in each paragraph.  This makes these reader books fun to read out loud because of the concentration of sounds that sound the same.  The Arctic story is beautifully and accurately illustrated by Geoffrey Cox. Geoffrey is a New Zealand freelance illustrator who has illustrated stamps for New Zealand Post, worked on a number of museum displays and illustrated many other books. His drawings in this book are all true to life depictions. As your children learn to sound out and recognise words, they will also be increasing their knowledge of the world in which they live - in this case, the Arctic.  Learn about the petrels, puffins, poppies and polar bears at the North Pole! Words are highlighted as they are read in video mode making the books easy to follow along with. Animations occur on each page after it has been read out loud. Commonly used words in English and in the book are provided as flashcards with audio file. This book introduces some of the more complex phonemes in English, including "ough" which has four sounds associated with it. The sounds are introduced naturally in the context of the story. For example: "I'd plough through the ice in my ship". Learn to talk English with a video tutor teaching you how to pronounce words and phonemes.
