Now a major motion picture! Stephen King’s #1 New York Times bestseller is a “wild, powerful, disturbing” (The Washington Post Book World) classic about evil that exists far beyond the grave—among King’s most iconic and frightening novels.

When Dr. Louis Creed takes a new job and moves his family to the idyllic rural town of Ludlow, Maine, this new beginning seems too good to be true. Despite Ludlow’s tranquility, an undercurrent of danger exists here. Those trucks on the road outside the Creed’s beautiful old home travel by just a little too quickly, for one thing…as is evidenced by the makeshift graveyard in the nearby woods where generations of children have buried their beloved pets. Then there are the warnings to Louis both real and from the depths of his nightmares that he should not venture beyond the borders of this little graveyard where another burial ground lures with seductive promises and ungodly temptations. A blood-chilling truth is hidden there—one more terrifying than death itself, and hideously more powerful. As Louis is about to discover for himself sometimes, dead is better

  • Still a Favorite

Recently re-read and it’s still one of my favorites. Bone-chillingly haunting plot of fantasy mixed with horror.

I think the book was great I’m a horror movie addict and I read this book and I love pet cemetery but the second one was very sad
  • Guess what, Stephen King? It IS your scariest book!

This was the first book I ever read by Stephen King, as well as being the first adult novel I ever read. The movie was the main motivator; I loved it! The book is better than the 1989 film version, but not by much! Publishers Weekly agreed with Stephen King about this emotional, supernatural horror story: “The most frightening book Stephen King has ever written!” I 💯 agree!

To me this was the last of Stephen King’s five star novels. Very scary and very readable and enjoyable. Great story. I think both movie adaptations were horrible. Better just to stick with the book.

I’ve been a fan of the movie since long ago and the book was even better. Reading it after having watched the movie helped me picture the characters that much more. One of the best books I’ve ever read don’t miss out on this one!
